Dan Hooker had to battle through some big adversity at UFC 290. It turns out after the fact, that he beat Jailin Turner with a pretty severely broken arm.

Heading into UFC 290, Hooker was looking to secure his first winning streak since 2020 by taking on Turner. However, he was the underdog according to oddsmakers, with many people appearing to favor the American who was trying to bounce back after suffering his first loss since 2019 against Mateusz Gamrot.

X-Ray Reveals Dan Hooker’s Broken Arm

In the end, Dan Hooker and Kaylin Turner would go to war for three rounds, in a bloody back and forth slugfest. Ultimately the judges would give the fight to the Kiwi fighter, who secured a split decision.

Immediately following the fight, Joe Rogan interviewed Hooker and the first question he asked was if the lightweight has suffered a broken arm, based on statements and actions during the fight. While “Hangman” would brush it off in the moment, calling it only a scratch, x-rays would be posted to Twitter by Submission Radio, showing that he had indeed broken his arm.

This looks to be a gnarly injury, with the bone snapping just below the wrist. It is ironic that Dan Hooker made the reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as this was actually far more than being “but a scratch.”

With this win, Dan Hooker continues to make another push up the lightweight rankings. It will be interesting to see how both he and Jailin Turner are matched up next, after the two had such a closely contested and exciting fight at UFC 290.
