Former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who recently parted ways with the largest mma promotion, has signed a long-term agreement with the PFL and will take part in the league’s next season, which starts in the spring of 2021.
The parties announced this in an official statement published by the organization’s press service.
“I am delighted to announce that the PFL has signed two-time world champion Anthony Pettis,” said League President Peter Murray. “Anthony is not only an outstanding MMA fighter, but also a true innovator in the cage, known for his charismatic fighting style and will to win. I am confident that Anthony will bring a factor of surprise to every match he plays throughout our season, and we are delighted to have him join the PFL family. “
Showtime will compete for the title belt and $ 1 million in the PFL lightweight division, of which Brazilian Nathan Schulte is the reigning champion.
“I am looking forward to the next big test in lightweight, which awaits me with the signing of the PFL contract,” says Pettis. “I am impressed with the PFL’s accomplishments, their growth, and the amazing talent they have with the organization. I watched the Brazilian guy Nathan Schulte, who is a champion and really very good, but I’m not afraid of anyone. “
“The season has a great format and I think it will be an amazing new adventure for me, and I can’t wait to add another world title to my collection.”
