Mexican boxing superstar Saul Alvarez and IBF middleweight title holder Caleb Plant staged a brawl right at the press conference dedicated to their fight for the status of the absolute world champion, which will be held on November 6 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
At the first press conference before the bout between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant, the two fighters finally came face to face. However this ended up not being a great idea, as it ended in the two having a bit of a brawl onstage.
Canelo and Plant are set to face off against each other in a championship boxing match on November 6th. Being billed as On The Road To Undisputed, this bout will serve as a super middleweight unification title bout, with the winner holding the IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring titles, being the first undisputed champion in the division’s history.
Ahead of the fight, the two came face to face for a press conference, having their first face-off. However as the video below shows, Alvarez shoved Caleb, resulting in the two throwing hands for a brief moment before people get between them and separate things.
The boxers reached the boiling point during the traditional sterdown. The instigator of the conflict was Canelo, who forcefully pushed his opponent away from him, after which Plant tried to slap the Mexican in the face, but ran into a counter combination. There is information that Plant has opened a dissection under his right eye.
Recall that Alvarez has a track record of 56 wins (38 by knockout), one defeat and two draws. In May, Canelo won by technical knockout of the British Billy Joe Saunders, who previously had zero in the defeat column.
The 29-year-old Plant has 21 wins (12 by knockout) in the 21st match. In the last fight, which took place in January 2021, the American won by a unanimous decision of his compatriot Caleb Truax.
