‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul is fresh off a victory over former world champion Mike Tyson – with many stars quick to call out the American following his win last month
Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has called for a fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul after the Brit’s clash with Tommy Fury was cancelled.
‘The Problem Child’ has taken the sport of boxing by storm since making his debut back in 2020. With a professional record of 11-1, the young American has already defeated the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz inside the squared-circle. In his last outing in November, the 27-year-old secured a unanimous decision victory over former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson.
After the fight, Jake Paul admitted – despite the war of words between the pair in the lead up – that he didn’t want to knock out Tyson when he clocked he was simply holding on as his age began to tell. “I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt,” he said. “There was a point where he (Tyson) was not engaging back, I could just tell his age was showing a little bit. That violence war thing… that went away as the rounds went on.
“People just love to hate me. I intentionally say things for people to hate. That’s what I like to do. If people want to see more… give me a couple of months. I tried to give the best fight I possibly could. When someone’s just surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make it exciting. I don’t care what people have to say. It is what it is.”
Despite earning some well deserved time off, the American has received several callouts over the last few weeks. Boxing champions Daniel Dubois and Artur Beterbiev have both welcomed fights with the American. However, more recently, former UFC star Till, 31, has offered to fight ‘The Problem Child’ in the ring.
The Liverpudlian was due to face Fury on January 18, but the latter pulled out after his rival threatened to kick him in the head. In an X-rated post uploaded to social media, Till decided to hit out at Fury before opting to call out Paul. The post read: ” Tommy Fury u are the biggest s***house I have ever met in my life do not ever call yourself a fighter again. I was selling the fight to make me and you more money you absolute empty head fighting family my ass you and ur dad s***houses I don’t need to throw kicks you was getting knocked spark out you divvy we was making bank on this fight cos of me not you I was building It you should be fighting and should be thanking me… over and out.. no one wants to fight me… Jake Paul what are you up to you big fat dummy?”
In a video accompanying the post, Till added: “What’s happening everyone? I’ve just got to the gym, about to do me sparring this morning and I’ve just been shown that Tommy Fury has put up a f****** post saying that he’s not not fighting because I threatened to kick him in the head. I said I’d kick him in the head at the press conference as a mental warfare tactic. And since then, I haven’t said anything else. I’ve been hard at work in the gym and preparing for this boxing match with him on January 18. I said to everyone that Tommy was going to pull out regardless of anything.
“I f****** knew it since the press conference. So, now it’s confirmed what I said, he’s a s***house, his family are s***houses and now Tommy’s not fighting. I’ve been hard at work, boxing for two years, haven’t thrown a kick in two years. I threw one kick on a video as a mental warfare tactic. Never in a million years would I throw a headkick in a fight that’s only boxing rules. I stick to the rules, I abide by the rules throughout my whole career. So now, I’ve gone to the gym to do my sparring this morning and Tommy Fury has pulled out. Tommy Fury, you are the biggest s***house I have ever come across… you are not a man.”
After Fury took to social media to confirm he would be pulling out of the Till clash, Jake Paul immediately gave his reaction to the news, simply saying: “Hahahaha”. The YouTuber lost to Fury last year and has been chasing a rematch ever since.
