Jamahal Hill has responded to Alex Pereira’s callout

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jamahal Hill responds to Alex Pereira’s callout.

Hill reached the top of the mountain by becoming the UFC light heavyweight champion at UFC 283. The 31-year-old is now expected to defend the title against Jiri Prochazka when the latter returns from a severe shoulder injury. With that said, a different opponent called out the new champion while Prochazka recovers.

The UFC middleweight champion, Pereira, is a close friend and training partner of Glover Teixeira, who ‘Sweet Dreams’ battered at UFC 283. Hence the Brazilian wants revenge for his mentor’s UFC loss. ‘Poatan’ commented this on Hill’s recent Instagram video:

“I heard prochazka is injured. What about knocking me out ?”

‘Sweet Dreams’ joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to discuss his win and what’s potentially next. He was unaware of Pereira’s callout until Helwani informed him. The new UFC light heavyweight champion responded by saying:

“Oh, s**t, what’s poppin’? What’s poppin’? We can get that cracking if you wanna come up and try his luck with that s**t. Come on in. I’m not scared of nobody. I take very seriously to challenges, and it gives me extra incentive to f**k you up…”

Jamahal Hill thinks Alex Pereira’s callout comes from an old video of him discussing a matchup against ‘Poatan’

Alex Pereira recently said he expects his next fight to be against Israel Adesanya or Robert Whittaker at middleweight. Those plans are now in question, with Pereira showing interest in fighting Jamahal Hill. During the same interview with Ariel Helwani, Hill revealed why he thinks ‘Poatan’ called him out:

“I think what he was mentioning was it was a old clip… And I said I think I’d knock him out. You know what I mean? And I do. It ain’t like I didn’t say that s**t. I said that s**t. If he feels some type of way about it, show me. I’m in the show me business.”

Pereira’s callout isn’t entirely shocking. The UFC middleweight champion cuts an absurd amount of weight to make 185 pounds and might want to preserve his body by moving up a division. Now that Glover Teixeira has retired, nothing stops the GLORY kickboxer from fighting at light heavyweight.
