Maurice Greene last weekend fought in the heavyweight division on the main card of UFC on ESPN 24 against Marcos Rogerio de Lima, losing by unanimous decision after three rounds. For Green, this was the second defeat in a row and the fourth defeat in the last five fights.
The up-and-coming heavyweight announced on social media that he had made the decision to leave the UFC and start something new for himself. The fighter writes:
When one door closes another one opens. I have had ups and downs with the #ufc and today that relationship comes to an end. Look at the bright side I’m still in the best shape of my life. I’m physically and mentally #stronger than ever and the next chapter I am excited for. This game is unforgiving but hey I’m down for the challenge of making my name with a new promotion or the road back. Thank you to @ufc for some great memories. The best is yet to come.
As a reminder, Maurice Greene made his UFC debut in November 2018. During this time, he managed to hold eight fights, four of which ended in defeats for him. At the moment, it is not known what exactly Green is planning for himself in the future, but from the message it can be concluded that he is not going to retire from the sport.
