The former contender for the UFC middleweight title, Cuban Yoel Romero, will make his debut fight in Bellator on September 18 at the SAP Center arena in San Jose, California, USA, in the main event of the Bellator 266 tournament. Romero’s opponent will be the former Bellator light heavyweight champion, American Phil Davis. This was reported on the official Bellator account on Twitter.
Recall that Romero signed a contract with Bellator in the middle of last year, but was never able to make his debut in the promotion. On May 7, Yoel was supposed to fight in the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix with American Anthony Johnson, but the Cuban had to refuse due to health problems.
As for Davis, he has been competing in Bellator since September 2015. He held the organization’s light heavyweight title, but lost it in June 2017, losing to compatriot Ryan Bader by a split decision of the judges. After that, Phil had seven fights, in two of which he was defeated by a decision of the judges. In both fights, the current champion of Bellator in the light heavyweight division, Russian Vadim Nemkov, became the offender of the American.
