UFC President Dana White announced that Australian mixed martial arts fighter Robert Whittaker will not be able to compete for the organization’s middleweight title in the next fight and will have to fight another rival.
“I don’t think Whittaker will fight for the title in the next fight. He will have to meet someone else first. It all depends on how things will be with the duel between Adesanya and Blachowicz. We’ll see, ” said Dana White.
Recall that Whittaker earned the right to a rematch with Israel Adesanya, who is the middleweight champion, defeating American Jared Cannonier on October 24, but the New Zealander decided to move up a category and face the UFC light heavyweight champion Pole Jan Blachowicz. The fight between Adesanya and Blachowicz is set to take place on March 6th in the main event of UFC 259.
