The contender for the UFC welterweight title, Gilbert Burns, called out top-10 fighter Neil Magny, and the “Haitian Sensation” answered him.
Gilbert Burns defeated Stephen Thompson at UFC 264, and he is currently the No. 2 fighter in the UFC welterweight division. Burns challenged the likes of Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal to his next fight, but nothing was booked yet. It seems that “Durinho” is now getting frustrated, sitting around and waiting, and he wants to return to the octagon as soon as possible. Since this is the case, it looks like Burns is now ready to fight down the ladder, including against Neil Magny, who took 8th place.
Taking to his social media, Burns called out Magny for an upcoming fight. Soon after Magny responded to him, and then Burns sent out one final message to him.
Starting to get that itch again… but everyone that I call is busy ??♂️??♂️ ??@NeilMagny??
Spent all that time chasing clout! I’ve been ready!
I don’t like the way you sound ??♂️ you might just lost an opportunity ??♂️ should be more thankful next time
At the moment, Burns probably just wants to have another fight before 2021. He started the year as the No. 1 contender at 170 pounds, but a loss to champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 258 sent him back to earth. The victory over Thompson once again raised Burns to the elite of the UFC welterweight division, but it seems that Edwards and Masvidal are not ready to fight him at the moment. Although Magny is only ranked 8th, he won a major victory over Geoff Neal, which proved that he is still the best fighter.
