UFC Minimum Division champion Weili Zhang shared her thoughts on her upcoming bout with Rose Namajunas at UFC 261 in April.
Weili Zhang believes the world will see her closer to her “full potential” when the Chinese lightweight champion returns to the Octagon to defend his title against fellow former American champion Rose Namajunas at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida on April 24.
It’s a daunting thought considering the Chinese star’s record is 21-1, she is 5-0 in the UFC and triumphs in what many believe is the best fight the female side of MMA has ever seen. against Joanna Jedrzejczyk. But Zhang’s word was that the world must again expect the unexpected.
“I know anything can happen in a fight with Rose Namajunas. Ultimately, whoever has the richest arsenal in the Octagon will decide the outcome of this fight. I’ll bring more weapons with me.
Now everything is going smoothly, and I am happy about this fight with Rose. Since my last gig, I have thought of Rose as the perfect match for me. I am very happy. Namajunas has excellent footwork and boxing skills. I have to prepare specifically for her skill set.
During the fight with Jendzheichik, my thirst for victory brought me to a completely new level, brought me closer to my maximum potential. Now I’m ready to get even closer to my maximum, “Weili Zhang told SCMP MMA.
