Amad Diallo sends message after breathtaking display

Amad Diallo is announcing himself as a world-class footballer this season, with his highest height now coming during Manchester United’s 2-1 derby win against Manchester City.

Ruben Amorim’s star man has turned out to be a player he would not have expected it to be one month ago.

Everyone knew Amad Diallo was a special talent, but on a day when both Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford were dropped, the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international announced himself as a world-class player.

Having been misused by Erik ten Hag, Amad has grabbed his chance under Amorim with both hands and is currently Manchester United’s very best player. He showed this perfectly on Sunday.

Amad was hailed by Gary Neville following the 2-1 win, with Amad playing a key part, scoring the winner at the Etihad and kissing the United badge afterwards.

After such an impressive performance, Amad took to Instagram with a message for United fans.

The No.16 wrote: “Manchester is RED.”

His three-word message was followed by seven heart emojis – coincidentally the same amount of losses City have suffered in their last 10 games.

Under the post, several teammates responded to Amad.

Kobbie Mainoo was one, as he wrote: “Serious”, which we can only imagine is in relation to the performance from Amad.

Ethan Wheatley then added: “Unreal”, underneath the post.

Manchester United have a new face of the franchise

For the best part of the past decade, United’s face of the franchise has been Rashford – as the Wythenshawe-born forward established himself very quickly at United.

But Sunday seemed like a shift, with Rashford linked with exiting United in 2025, a new face was needed and it was Amad who put in a sensational display to almost single-handedly steal the points from City.

Amad wasted no time at all in putting his name forward for that role as he continued to make himself undroppable for Amorim and arguably the first name on the team sheet.

Amad was absolutely “electric” against City according to Wes Brown, and this was his fifth Premier League goal contribution under Amorim – United’s MVP.
