Bellator 258 Results

Ancasville, Connecticut hosted Bellator 258, the highlight of which was a bantamweight title fight between reigning division champion Juan Archuleta and his belt challenger, Sergio Pettis.

The fight went the entire distance – following the results of five rounds of the match, the referees, by unanimous decision with a score of 50-45 and 49-46, twice gave the victory to the former UFC fighter, who dominated his opponent for most of the match.

In the co-main event, Anthony Johnson defeated Brazilian Jose Augusto by knockout in the second round, however, the ex-contender for the UFC light heavyweight title made his fans nervous, almost suffering an early defeat already in the starting segment of the fight.

In the first round, “Rumble” in the exchange at the net ran into the opponent’s left hook and was knocked down, but the Brazilian, who by this time injured his right hand, failed to finish the American, allowing him to return to the battle.

In the 90th second of the second round, Johnson struck a powerful two and knocked out Augusto, qualifying for the semifinals of the Bellator light heavyweights grand prix, where he will face the reigning division champion Vadim Nemkov.

In the third most important event of the event, Conor McGregor’s teammate, Peter Quilly, at the end of the second round, inflicted a serious cut with his elbow on Patrick Freire, whom the doctor did not release for the third round due to heavy bleeding.
