Jorginho is on the verge of joining Arsenal in a shock move from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
Arsenal were keen to bolster their midfield options and had been pushing hard to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion in recent days. Arsenal tabled two bigs in excess of £70m for the Brighton midfielder. The Seagulls were determined to hold onto their star player, though, and made it clear he wasn’t for sale.
Arsenal then turned their attention to signing Jorginho. Things have moved quickly and the Italian midfielder is on the brink of joining the Gunners in a £11m move. The move has not been officially confirmed at the time of writing but images have been leaked showing Jorginho holding an Arsenal shirt.
He joins David Luiz, Petr Cech and Willian in making the move from Chelsea to Arsenal in recent years.
