Sean O’Malley says Dominick Cruz refused to fight him in the main card of UFC 269. UFC’s bantamweight division has become a murder’s row of beastly fighters. The top 10 of the division is filled with star-studded names like Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw, Aljamain Sterling, Rob Font, Jose Aldo, and so on. It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting divisions of the promotion that routinely puts on amazing performances.
Apart from all these fighters, Sean O’Malley is also someone who is making his name in the division. And O’Malley, believes some of these UFC stars are ducking him.
He believes that former bantamweight champion Dominick ‘the dominator’ Cruz is most likely ducking him. In his recent interview with ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto, Sean shared his thoughts about the Cruz vs Pedro Munhoz fight. He stated that the former champion took the fight against Munhoz instead of facing him.
Sean O’Malley shed light on his upcoming fight and how he is on the main card, and Dominick Cruz isn’t. He said,
” Last I said, you know Dominick Cruz is ducking me. Which is kind of I mean hey, It’s like you wanna fight Sean O Malley on the main card or you want to fight Pedro Munhoz on the prelims. He picked prelims, Pedro, so that fight’s not there”
Moreover, Sean also suggested that another former UFC champion in Cody Garbrandt is also ducking him. The former champion announced earlier in the year that he is moving down to the 125lb flyweight division. Sean believes it had a lot to do with his rise in the bantamweight division.
Sean O’Malley wants to fight the interim champion, Petr Yan.
One thing Sean made quite clear is that he wants to fight the interim champ, Petr Yan. He is indeed aware that only number one contenders get to fight champions, but still, he wants to one day step in the cage with him. He is willing to fight him without the title being on the line, as he really likes his fighting style, and believes he can put on an interesting fight.
