The new lightweight champion will be crowned at UFC 262 and, according to marketing, fans won’t have to wait five rounds to see who it is.
Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler meet in the pay-per-view main event on May 15 with the vacant UFC lightweight title. Between the two of them, they have 44 knockout or submission wins, so it is highly likely that the referees will not be needed when they enter the octagon to face off.
Check out the UFC 262 promo video above, which highlights their finishing ability.
Oliveira currently holds the record for most serving wins in UFC history (14) and finished with seven contenders in a row before beating Tony Ferguson in his last fight at UFC 256.
Chandler has only had one UFC finish so far, but it came in his impressive debut this January at UFC 257. The three-time Bellator lightweight champion took only half a round to catch longtime rival Dan Hooker and finish him off with punches. He holds the record for most finishes in Bellator history at 13, which includes the finishes of two UFC lightweight champions, Benson Henderson and Eddie Alvarez.
The UFC 262 promo also features Ferguson and Beneil Dariush, who meet in a joint main event and are no strangers to themselves. Ferguson has won 11 of his 17 UFC fights by knockout or submission, while Dariush has finished four opponents during his current six-fight winning streak.
